Dear Friend,
Last summer, Inner Journey’s ministry of wholeness began. Through the Summer and Winter
Inner Journey Journals and the September IJ Letter, we shared with you important principles
that relate to wholeness. We said that the day would come when we would ask you to join us
not only in learning about this way of life, but in practicing it for the good of humanity.
The day has come.
We believe that as more and more people dedicate themselves to the work of wholeness, more
of that which is Spirit will be expressed, not only in our individual lives, but as a blessing
to the human family. We see those of you who are isolated and seemingly alone united with Inner
Journey "friends of God" through prayer and sitting in Silence. We see those of you who have
spiritually minded friends gathering together to form prayer groups. Helpful steps for forming
such a group are found in the book A Closer Walk With God. We know of several Gatherings, as
these groups are called, where people are experiencing deepened spiritual lives.
The ideas outlined in this section of A Closer Walk With God and those principles we have
shared recently will initiate a service to humanity for which many are yearning. The truth
is we are only two people. The needs are great and cannot be filled by the two of us or even ten
thousand "friends of God," for the true worker is a consciousness of God. This we must
always remember.
The Great Physician that performs what some call healing is a consciousness of God.
Actually, as we have shared before, healing is not the issue. The real issue is whether
we will seek the kingdom and open ourselves to the revelation that we are whole spiritual beings.
The truth of our being is present—now. It cannot be taken away by thought, image, or feeling.
These three faculties and a human condition like disease may mask our true identity, but whole
we are—now and forever more. And so we resist not; we do not strive to be healed or to heal
others. However, let it be known that our non-resistance is not inactivity. It is.
preparation for activity born of Spirit.
Our work is the formation of a door, so the kingdom of God within us can be released. As
the revelation of wholeness emerges, not only will our individual lives be blessed, but God
will be unleashed in the world. Only good can come from this. Let us open ourselves to this
consciousness, for as it dawns in us, those in need will seek us out. We will become
threads in the "hem of the garment."
Do you remember the story in Jesus’ ministry of the woman who had a flow of blood for
12 years? She thought if she could only touch the
hem of His garment she would be healed. Jesus knew nothing of the woman and was on the way
to be involved in the raising of a young girl from the dead. Many people were touching Jesus
and pressing in upon Him, but He felt this woman’s "touch." The healing occurred not because
the woman touched Jesus’ garment, but because she touched His consciousness.
We believe that as Jesus walked, He was not thinking about the young girl or about the woman.
His focus was on His Father and because of this, a doorway opened, so the "Great Physician"
could emerge. Let us become threads in the hem of garment of the cosmic Christ.
This consciousness of God will do the work that must be done.
Join us in preparing to serve God and humanity in a special way. First, please remember
that the revelation of wholeness does not dawn through our efforts. We have much to do, but
the formation of the door and the emerging consciousness come through grace. Secondly, do
not pray for others in the conventional matter of asking for the healing of disease or by
thinking about specific people. We believe such practices root us in human consciousness
and make us less available to God.
Instead, resist not. Do not think of people or earthly conditions. Express your willingness
to be a servant of Spirit. Ask for nothing other than for the "imprisoned splendor" to escape
from the divine center within you. If a condition comes to mind, simply tell it you do not
judge or draw conclusions based on what appears. If a person’s name comes to mind, declare
the name of God—I am that I am. These simple practices gently focus us on Spirit and call
forth the formation of the door. To think about people and conditions, even to ask that
they be healed, is to remain in human consciousness. This we must not do.
In preparing ourselves to serve, we will give attention to and abide with these words—I am
the door, and waiting is the key. Join us daily as we sit together in the Silence, and
then go forth into the world. You will find that those in need will find you. By giving
yourself to this work, God will increasingly have an avenue for expression. This, of course,
is in alignment with our reason for being.
Dear friends, let us begin by putting these principles to the test. A new millennium is
coming and the world needs those who are truly committed to the mystical, God consciousness way
of life. You are being called to serve in this way. You will be blessed, but moreso, you will
be a blessing.
PS Don’t forget to send us examples of the Sacred Human which you have heard about, witnessed,
or experienced.
Essential Ideas for Inner Journey’s
Ministry of Wholeness
1. The state of our bodies and minds is not the real issue.
2. The real issue is whether we will seek the kingdom of God and awaken to our spiritual
nature which is wholeness.
3. In the kingdom, in spiritual consciousness, there is no illness and therefore nothing.
to fix or heal.
4. We "resist not" because we do not strive to correct outer conditions. We seek to
become aware of the inner condition.
5. Our non-resistance is not inactivity. It is preparation for activity born of Spirit.
6. We are not the healer.
7. The "Great Physician" is a consciousness of God.
8. Because the kingdom of heaven is within us, a doorway must be opened so the
"imprisoned splendor" can be released.
9. We have our work to do, but the door opens and the "Great Physician" comes through
grace rather than our human efforts.
10. As we open ourselves to this experience of the Presence, we do not bring into our
consciousness names of people and conditions. Such names are of human consciousness,
and the door cannot form when our focus is earthly.
11. Instead, give attention to God and wait for the opening of the door.
12. Then live your life in thankfulness that you are a thread in the hem of the garment.
hose who are open and receptive will be attracted to the doorway through which God’s work
is done.
